Hi I’m Simon, I’m Head of Operations for Vue UK & Ireland.
With the app, we had the whole circuit downloaded within a day individual cinema QR registration literally took a matter of minutes and then in terms of communicating that out to the cinemas and teams and setting it up - very straightforward.
Teams and customers have found it really straightforward to use. It’s very simple to implement - most of the customers have already got the app available.
Physically itself it takes literally a second for anyone to use. And so in that sense I think it’s a really positive and simple implementation for any business.

]]>So we’ve recently just opened our doors back to the members of the public.
We took a number of measures to ensure that we can do this in a COVID secure environment.
We’ve made sure that we’ve reduced the capacities so that we can limit the number of people in the venue. They have to book all of their activities via our booking app. The capacities are at 10 minute slots, so that we can control the trickle flow of our customers. Their activities are limited by time. A 50 minute session for our gym users and the same for out fitness classes. As well as swimming, that we do across our other venues.
We have sanitiser points at entry to all our venues.
We encourage all our members to download the Track & Trace app, when it is launched. This will work alongside our own booking app that our members can use.
So the feedback from our customers regarding our reopening has been really positive. A lot of customers have come back welcoming the fact that they can come back to fitness, as well as, the new safety processes that we have put in place.

]]>To be COVID secure we’ve made sure that we have hand sanitisers, that we use viral sprays to clean the premises every day. We’ve used the Test & Trace that is operating here in Newham. We have posters up about the masks. We’ve marked all our flooring with two metre distance social distancing and we use the QR codes at several points.
If you go and Google NHS QR codes, it will come up with “Create a coronavirus NHS QR code for your venue”. You press that – you can do this on your phone, or your laptop or anything – it will say “Create a code for your venue”, “Start now”, “Where should we send your poster”. You give your email address. After you put in your email address they will ask you your postcode and location, and your name will instantly come up and you’ve got your own unique QR code.

]]>Justine and Jon Frankis, who run the 8-bedroom Inglewood Guesthouse, have adopted the new NHS COVID-19 app and QR code to boost confidence of visitors looking for a safe holiday break.
Justine said: “It was so easy to set up. We followed the instructions given at the time of launch to sign-up and produce an online poster with a unique QR code, which we then printed out
To encourage our guests to use the NHS app, we displayed the QR code on our noticeboard in the reception, just as you come into the guesthouse.”
The NHS COVID-19 app supports the contact tracing programme, making it easy to warn people who may not know they have been in contact with someone who has since tested positive.
Inglewood Guesthouse also continues to maintain a COVID-secure environment. Justine added: “The wellbeing of our guests is of the utmost importance. We work to ensure they have a positive experience and have a comprehensive risk assessment in place. All guest rooms are fogged between use and all duvets and pillows removed from rooms and stored for 3 days before being reused.
Social distancing is in operation in the breakfast room. If that is not possible due to numbers, then we stagger the breakfast session by having two or sometimes three sittings. Tables and chairs are sanitised between sittings to ensure they are safe for other guests to use. We have also adopted table service-only and removed our buffet service to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. We have hand sanitisers located throughout the building.”

]]>The family-run company, which employs six people at its stores in Brentwood and East Ham, has rolled out the NHS COVID-19 app and QR code.
Managing Director Robert Dunham said: “As a customer-facing business, we understood the need to support NHS Test and Trace by maintaining a record of visitors to our stores.
“Following the pilot of the NHS COVID-19 app in Newham, we immediately set up a link to register and generate our unique QR code. It was easy and free of charge.”
Comfy Beds displayed QR code posters prominently at its Newham store entrance, encouraging customers to scan the QR code using their NHS app on arrival.
Robert said: “The poster at our store also gives staff some peace of mind. They can work comfortably, knowing that in the unlikely event of an outbreak linked to our store, they will be notified quickly and can be tested.”
Comfy Beds is also ensuring its stores remain COVID-secure with a range of measures, including:

]]>KASK’s team of six has been serving Bristol’s wine lovers since 2019, specialising in natural or ‘real’ wines, as well as offering other tasty organic speciality products.
KASK co-owner and partner Natalie Johnson says government guidance underpins KASK’s plans to ensure it operates ‘COVID-secure’.
“In line with government directives we put together guidance for when staff returned to work. Broadly, our guidance details the measures staff must take, including clear instructions to stay home and take a test for anyone who develops symptoms. It also covers practical operational considerations, such as maintaining social distancing where possible, enhanced cleaning procedures, and requiring contactless payment from customers.
Supporting NHS Test and Trace is an important part of our COVID-secure plan. KASK has a table booking policy, allowing up to six people per table. When we take the booking, we collect customer contact details which are then stored temporarily for 21 days.
We also collect the contact details of ‘walk-in’ customers and those who come by to collect takeaways in case they too become required by the contact tracing centre.
We’ve found KASK customers have been very welcoming of the measures put in place to keep both them and others safe”.

]]>The service preserves historical documents about the Isle of Wight for public research. Its archive has material that spans the 12th to the 21st centuries and includes records of parish churches, estates, families, businesses, schools, and local government.
Richard Smout, Heritage Service Manager at Isle of Wight Council explains how the new NHS COVID-19 app and QR code has been useful for reassuring customers.
“We attract developers, researchers and students looking for heritage materials. Prior to the pilot of the app in the Isle of Wight, we used conventional methods to keep track of visitors. The new app and QR code, however, provide an easier way of keeping records of visitors who come in.
The QR code is displayed at the entrance to the office, where staff ask visitors to use their NHS app as they come in. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the app and its advantage to new arrivals. The process means it’s now much easier to warn people who may not know they have been in contact with someone who has since tested positive for coronavirus.”
While explaining efforts to make the QR code accessible, Richard said “We are working to ensure all visitors can access the QR code so they are able to scan-in at our venue.”

]]>Hello, my name is Sue Newton. I am the Health and Safety Manager at Halton Housing. We own and manage seven thousand properties in the Cheshire towns of Runcorn and Widnes. And our aim is to improve lives.
We have been working in an agile way for many years now and during lockdown all of our staff worked from home. To help our colleagues feel safe and assured, we have introduced a number of safety measures.
These include taking people's temperatures when they arrive at the office, operating all our desks socially distanced, bringing an online booking system in.
We also have got hand sanitisers around the building and we asked people to bring their own crockery and cutlery.
We have also introduced a one-way system and there are arrows on the floor to guide our staff as they walk around the building.
All our meeting rooms now have maximum capacities and these are all displayed on our doors as you enter the room.
We also clean the office thoroughly every day with high touch points being cleaned even more regularly.
We are proud to be playing our part to help stop the spread of coronavirus. We look forward to welcoming colleagues back into our Head Office as we return our key services we provide to customers to pre-COVID levels in a safe and secure way.

]]>Lee Marshall, Safety Manager at Fuller’s, explains why these measures are so important to the business.
“The journey for our 5,000 staff starts with a training programme and reviewing the COVID-19 risk assessment for their site. As well as aiding their own understanding, this also allows employees to explain the measures to customers.
All staff must complete a questionnaire before starting work which gives them a green light or, if they are feeling unwell, encourages them to stay at home, arrange a test through the GOV.UK portal and, if positive, alert NHS Test and Trace.
It also starts a process for their worksite on what to do should a staff member fall ill. This includes regular communication with the employee, highlighting the steps to self-isolate, encouraging cooperation with NHS Test and Trace. At their place of work, we identify any additional cleaning that might need to be undertaken.
Customers also play a part, and we have found they have been happy to share their details with us to support NHS Test and Trace. We have made it simple by offering registration through the Wi-Fi system using a QR code, or taking details through advanced bookings.
Fuller’s prides itself on outstanding hospitality and making everyone feel welcome. By implementing these measures, our staff feel safe at work and our customers feel safe as they get back to enjoying our venues.”
